State Fair - Info - Photos - Allegedly the best state fair in the country (or at least tied for first), the Iowa State Fair is known for it’s plentiful variety of foods-on-sticks, it’s phenomenal grandstand shows, and it’s outstanding arts/culture, cattle, and 4-H exhibitions.
RAGBRAI - The famous bike race across Iowa - from river to river!
Bix7 Race - Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival - A nationally recognized road race paired with some of the best jazz music on the north end of the Mississippi? Can’t go wrong.
Mississipi Valley Fair - the largest regional fair in the state, possibly in the Midwest, bringing in some of the top country and rock performers to it’s Grandstand every year.

Iowa Capitol Building - Tours - Wiki - The Iowa Capitol, mounted by a gold dome, is actually the second capitol building in Iowa, after the first was moved from Iowa City.
Adventureland - Park Info - Wiki - Adventureland, Iowa’s largest theme park, is located outside of Des Moines. Though it is smaller scale than most, it still manages to make a great day-trip for fun.
Port of Dubuque/National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium - A more recent addition to the Iowa landscape, the revitalized Port of Dubuque now has so much to offer, including the amazing River Museum, which is part of the Smithsonian Institution’s national network of great American Museums!
Figge Art Museum - Housing some of the best art in Iowa, the Figge Art Museum is part of Downtown Davenport’s riverfront revitalization!
Science Center of Iowa - Located in Des Moines, the Science Center of Iowa offers some of the best interactive and educational experience for both children and adults!
