Clinton, Iowa. Railroad station abandoned. I love the sense of humor. It’s in the railroad depot and the name makes a great play on that.

Our Railroad
Below the bridge trains follow the path of the first railroad to enter Iowa City, which had offered a $50,000 reward if the Mississippi and Missouri Railroad could finish the line before January 1, 1856. On New Year’s Eve 1855, railroad crews and citizen volunteers worked frantically in subzero temperatures, reaching the goal just as church bells rang in the new year. The first passenger train arrived January 3, 1856 to more bell ringing, artillery salutes and general celebration. At that time Iowa City became the westernmost terminus for rail travel to the West resulting in rapid growth in commerce and local population.
And the prospect of rail coming back to Iowa City is one that this blogger cannot wait for. #personalopinion
